Cambridge Scouts Summit Mt. Baldy

Scouts from Cambridgeport’s BSA Venture Crew 56 reached the 12,441 foot summit of Mt. Baldy this week during their backpacking trip through the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Jacob Klibaner, Ricky Millien, Beau Rideout, Josh Rice and Brian Zick backpacked 80 miles over ten days through the 127,395 acre high adventure camp in northern New Mexico. Assistant Scoutmaster Britt Rideout and Venture Advisor Robin Bonner were the adult leaders for the trip.

The scouts flew to Denver, Colorado on July 4th, spent their first night at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and camped the next night at Great Sand Dunes National Park before arriving at the Philmont base camp on July 6th. After orientation, and medical and pack checks they began their backpacking trip on July 7th. They returned to base camp On July 17th and flew home on July 18th, safe, sound and somewhat footsore.
